Slowly, over the years, technology has become such an integrated part of our everyday lives. Today, a typical mobile phone has more computational power in it than the rockets that landed on the moon. We need to prepare our children for life in a world where they have the world at their fingertips.

At St Margaret Clitherow’s we aim to provide an ICT rich environment that allows the children to learn the skills they need but also one that is integrated into other areas of the curriculum so that learning is enhanced and supported through the use of ICT.

Our aim is to allow our children to become autonomous and independent thinkers who can solve problems and become responsible digital citizens through the skills they have learnt through the 3 main areas of the computing curriculum; Computer Science (programming and learning about digital systems), Information Technology (using systems to create content, store, retrieve and send information) and Digital Literacy (evaluating and using technology safely).

We have built a curriculum that allows children to build on the essential skills they need over time and also one that helps to prepare the children by giving them the tools and strategies they need to feel safer in a digital world.  We hope that our children will become confident with the technology they use and will be ready to face the challenges of their digital futures.
